This promotion is part of a new recycling effort, and the company is offering gift cards in a range of values depending on the condition and type of gadget.

For example, a first gen 32 GB iPad with WiFi will get you a gift card worth about $180, if the device is in perfect condition. If the device is slight scuffed, on the other hand, you will get a gift card worth about $115. There is a trade-in calculator on the Apple website that allows you to calculate these values.
